Houses & Equipment

The two modernly furnished log cabins Yosemite and Yellowstone consist of about 120 m². Enjoy a relaxing time out with up to six people. The cottages have two separate bedrooms, and bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a spacious living room with an open fireplace. History & Philosophy

The Summit Lodges were built in 2018 on a property owned by the Spiss family for generations and was previously used as pasture for farm animals. Through various travels, Marco Spiss has been inspired by the traditional log cabin construction of the northwest of the USA and Canada. The focus was on ecological construction. Sustainability was already taken into account in the planning of the houses. The guests should experience nature and the culture of the region authentically. For the family the unique landscape is the basis of their success and a healthy business.

  • The two blockhouses were built with polar spruce according to traditional natural trunk construction.
  • The architectural model is the log house construction of the Northwest of the US and Canada.
  • The buildings were aligned with the sun to get an optimal incidence of light and to keep weather wear and tear as low as possible.
  • The interior decoration consists of local woods from regional companies.
  • The woods used outside, for example for the terraces, also come from local forests and a local sawmill.
  • All the excavated material from the construction of the houses was reused for the garden design.
  • Half of the land, which has been in family ownership for generations, is still used as an animal enclosure for sheep and goats.
  • The garden is planted with native plants, flowers, and trees, including fruit trees.
  • Native herbs and vegetables grow in raised beds.
  • Pest control is carried out, if necessary, with biological aids.
  • The water comes from the local water source in the Pfundser Radurschtal.
  • The garden is watered with stream water from the mountain stream directly at the property.
  • All devices that use water are equipped with economy filters or economy buttons.
  • The showers only provide a certain water pressure, which avoids unnecessary consumption.
  • The heating of the vacation houses is equipped with air heat pumps, which are operated by electricity from the Tyrolean water power.
  • Energy-saving lamps or LED lamps are used. The exterior and interior lighting is partly equipped with time switches and motion detectors.
  • For the future, a solar system is planned.
  • The waste produced is separated and checked before each trip to the recycling yard and re-sorted if necessary.
  • Any organic waste produced is composted.
  • Personal care products are refilled in reusable containers.
  • Care is taken to purchase as regionally as possible and not to produce packaging waste by shipping.
  • Further training of the staff in environmental issues and topics of sustainable living.
  • Ongoing training of the team by the local tourism board.
  • Guests are actively encouraged to use public transport such as ski buses and trains.
  • Protected animal breeds like the black nose sheep or Zackelschafe are raised and protected from extinction.
  • The survival of native insects is ensured by native flora and many green spaces. There are also bird food stations and bee hotels.
  • Engagement in local clubs such as the shooting club, the rural youth, and the sports club.
  • Donations are made to associations such as the fire department and sport events are supported by sponsoring.
