In summer 2020 the 5-star hotel Maslina Resort opens. It is situated on the coast of the beautiful bay of Maslinica on the island of Hvar in Croatia.

Maslina means "olive" in English and stands for the olive tree and its fruits, which have always shaped the lives of people in the Mediterranean region.

  • Low rising buildings, a wooden facade that blends with the environment, natural materials, reutilization of the site’s materials, dispersed building design.
  • Natural and local materials used throughout the project, including island of Brač’s famous stone, hemp ropes and UNESCO awarded agave threads.
  • Reforestation of the land plot: great care was taken implementing the protection of the indigenous olive trees and the reforestation of the land plot, maintaining its original layout.
  • Water plant uses advanced heat recovery technology to extract heat from cooled areas and then reuses it to create hot water. This technology delivers high output for low input, leading to a direct saving in CO2 emissions and running costs.
  • Waste water is effectively treated in our aerobic biological waste water treatment and released safely with no adverse effect on the local population or environment.
  • Water is hygienically correct and suitable for human consumption.

 

  • Sustainability is achieved through secondary power generator which develops enough power to run all systems in the Hotel, even if the energy cannot be provided through primary energy provider.
  • To minimize energy consumption, every lamp uses energy-efficient LED bulbs with “smart based control technology” which are connected on motion sensors and timers for areas under minor frequency of usage.
  • Pool technology and equipment is separately divided, main pools filters water for itself while small room pools use separate filter with latest inverter heat exchange technology to reduce energy consumption while working under full capacity.
  • Ventilation designed to reduce use of A/C including sensors for the windows.
  • Smart controlled bedrooms.
  • Non single use plastic: all plastic items are substitute with biodegradable options; i.e.: slippers, straws, disposable underwear for Spa treatments.
  • Organic (refillable) amenities: locally produced organic amenities available to our guests without needing to use disposable bottles.
  • Education and training of staff regarding waste separation and recycling.
  • Complimentary items in the minibar are produced in house daily and according to the available seasonal ingredients. Other items are purchased from O.P.G family businesses. O.P.G are businesses certified by the Croatian government as artisan producers and small family agriculture projects.
