Who says that green hotels are boring?
The first sight on Gradonna Mountain Resort from the street promises an exciting stay, it doesn’t appear to be an EcoResort, or what a lot of people think it would look like. It looks cool and attractively through the modern wooden architecture with a black tower in the middle. The name Gradonna is consciously chosen, it refers to a rock in the north-east of the Kalser group castle, to a place for Stone Age findings and the location of a private chapel.
At the lobby, we are welcomed warmly as if we had already been here many times before. Mrs. Berger, Gradonna‘s deputy hotel manager explains, laughs and the first positive impression increases. This is only topped when we entered our tower suite with that fantastic look at the valley and the mountains. In front in the soil depth of the windows is a bench with loden cloth, I would love to just snuggle up there and enjoy the gorgeous view, but we are here for the work:) and, moreover, we are keen to get to know the rest of this unique, green hotel. Before we decide to have a small refreshment after 7-hour journey. We are heading towards the bar with its spectacular view at mountains and valley. In no time, we are being convinced instead of having a cappuccino to try the welcome drink, champagne, elder juice and beaten white egg white. Mmmmh so tasty. Mr. Partel, the hotel manager has found time on a Sunday to lead us by the hotel and to give us a lot of information, about the history, the philosophy, art at the hotel, the owner’s family, the architecture.
The rooms are spacious with great view at the nature and furnished with natural materials. Everything is thought through with a lot of love to the detail. In the chalets, one can enjoy the advantage of a flat with the service of a hotel, with breakfast and dinner at the hotel, or in the flat. Perfectly for families,a chimney is found in all the chalets.
Meanwhile it is almost dark, our stomach growls and Mr. Partel accompanies us in the restaurant. Our place is in a space separated with glass, very comfortably and quietly. Food is of outstanding quality, we are inspired.
After a restful night in this wonderful green hotel, we find ourselves on the same place for the breakfast and are overwhelmed, or better beaten by the offer of the buffet. I have already had breakfast in a lot of top hotels, but this is absolutely magnificent, from the offer as well as the quality.
My conclusion, we will come back, absolutely recommendable!
The Gradonna for me is the connection of nature, sustainable architecture, art and design.
