All Good Things Take Time – Organic Hotel Pausnhof, St. Oswald, Bavaria
Recently we welcomed in some really exciting new green pearls, such as the organic hotel Pausnhof in St. Oswald in Bavaria, Germany. The Pausnhof is the first certified organic hotel, located near Germany’s first national park, the Bavarian Forest.
After philosophizing about what real luxury is in a recent blog, we know it’s not all about champagne, caviar and golden doorknobs. It’s our time that is being marketed as a luxury article in our hectic day-to-day lives. When we take some time to escape from our busy routines, what we fill that time with also becomes a luxury item. And that’s the Pausnhof’s mission: offering an organic and sustainable break from it all.
It’s all about the rhythm of nature and the circular flow of time here. Summer, winter, spring and autumn. Morning, noon and night. Dark and light. Warm and cold. Indoors and outdoors. We are invited to become curious.
This “Bio-Hotel” describes its rooms in consistency with its philosophy: large and bright rooms where nature does not stop outside the window. There are no special deals or last-minute offers; the Pausnhof honors its regular guests with this policy. And with a starting rate of EUR 110 per person, per night, including breakfast and dinner, we don’t think there’s a need for special deals. This rate includes access to the spa as well, and dinner is an extensive 4-course menu.
The hotel restaurant lovingly creates delicious meals with ingredients that are determined by the seasons and the harvest. The Pausnhof runs its own organic farm with sheep, cows and chickens, a beautiful herb garden and organic fruit and vegetables. The jams served at breakfast are also homemade on the premises.
Local interior designer, carpenter and artist Franz Hafner created a hotel with a deep connection to its natural surroundings. The wood used throughout the hotel was sourced in the Bavarian forest, is untreated and gives off enticing scents that can be smelled everywhere in the hotel. Natural stone from Solnhofen was used in the bathrooms, which is also untreated and smells delicious when wet.
Those who want to recharge their batteries after walking among the treetops in the Bavarian Forest national park can relax in the organic sauna or the herbal steam room.
The Pausnhof offers the perfect sustainable environment for those who want to experience a real break in nature, feel connected to their surroundings and spend a few days living by the natural rhythm of time.
