Clown Fish Conservation at Pimalai Resort & Spa, Koh Lanta, Thailand
Our hotels do a lot beyond the sustainable running of a hotel to contribute to their communities and to preserve the environment. Our green pearl the Pimalai Resort & Spa in Koh Lanta is a driving force behind such an initiative: together with the Thai Fishery Department Pimalai sponsors the breeding and subsequent release of endangered clown fish (think “Nemo”!).
This is part of the Pimalai Resort & Spa’s strong sustainability policy. The aim of the initiative is to turn Koh Haa Island, right across from the Pimalai, into a fish sanctuary.
Established now as an annual event in its 11th year, around a hundred volunteer divers gathered on March 21rd to make the release of clown fish happen.
This is a rewarding event for everyone who is involved and makes a real difference in preserving this endangered fish species.
The clown fish release is only one of many corporate social responsibility initiatives the Pimalai has set its heart on. The resort also continuously supports the local school and hospital.
