Green Resolutions for 2016
Have you made your resolutions for 2016 already? For many, January 1st is a fresh start, on which we think about what we would want to do better or even completely change in the new year. This is the same for our members: we have asked some of them for their personal resolutions for a new, green year. Happy New Year!
Stephan Bode, General Manager – Schwarzwald Panorama – Germany
In 2016, Stephan Bode wants to take part in a trip, where the proceeds support a waste collection campaign at popular attractions.
Mutlu Sağsözlü, Head of Sales & Marketing – Gloria Hotels & Resorts – Turkey
For Mutlu Sağsözlü, his new year’s resolution for 2016 is all about conscious steps: “Every step I take, I take with consciousness. Whether it is during a meeting or on vacation, our nature is worth to be looked at from all senses and to be loved.”
Martha Schultz, owner – Gradonna ****s Mountain Chalets & Resort – Austria
Martha Schultz does not need any New Year’s resolutions: “Every day, I try to remind myself to live as sustainable and as conscious as I can.”
Anja Horn, owner – Hofgut Hafnerleiten – Germany
For Hofgut Hafnerleiden, reducing even more waste is on the top of their green resolutions for 2016.

Personally, Nicholas Roucos wants to challenge his friends and family to decrease their water usage by 10 per cent.
Hannes Müller, owner – Das Genießerhotel: Die Forelle – Austria
In 2016, the team wants to save delivery trips and want to place as many fresh ingredients as possible directly on the guests’ plates.
Maurizio Faroldi, General Manager – Hotel Milano Scala – Milan, Italy
For 2016, Maurizio Faroldi has set the goal to make the front office completely paper-free!
Christian Petersen, General Manager – Hotel Speicher am Ziegelsee – Germany
Personally, he wants to tell his guests more about the green initiatives in his hotel and invest sustainably.
René Föger, owner – Familien- & Landhotel Stern – Austria
As one would expect from an owner of a family hotel, René Föger plans to be happy with his family in the new year.
Leisa Kenny-Protsat, General Manager – The Tongsai Bay – Koh Samui, Thailand
For 2016, Leisa Kenny-Protsat wants to ask herself “Do I really need this? How long will I use it?” more often, in order to reduce unnecessary and unused things.
Florian Hallermann, General Manager – Zeavola Resort – Koh Phi Phi, Thailand
„Find time for yourself to tank energy, to rediscover yourself and decide what you will do in 2016 to withstand the expectations and stress in a sustainable and healthy way.”
Liza Masías, Director Sales & Marketing – Inkaterra – Peru, South America
In the new year, Liza Masías wants to underline Peru’s large diversity with sustainable experience offers, such as a birdwatching tour or a nature walk in twilight and at the same time strengthen guests’ awareness for Peru’s cultural richness with ecotourism.
Pablo Gordienko, owner – Macaw Lodge – Costa Rica
He wants to include more establishments in the area of Macaw Lodge, for example schools into his initiated projects. “Especially nutritional value is really important to us. Because these children are going to be the future professionals”, says Pablo Gordienko.
Adrian Prado, General Manager – Sol Beach House Benoa Bali – Bali, Indonesia
For 2016, it is important to Adrian Prado, General Manager, to communicate clearly to his guests, how important reducing water is for the island – water shortage can have devastating consequences there. Jean & Anne de Villiers, owners – Chole Mjini – Tanzania, East Africa
For 2016, Jean and Anne de Villiers have promised to lower their carbon footprint further, for example by having all products delivered in braided baskets out of coconuts.
