Sustainable Travel with a Dog
The next travel destination is selected and the search for a fitting hotel begins. What is almost already a challenge on its own, is even more difficult for dog owners! Not many hotels allow pets and thus dog owners often simply get a dog sitter for at home, who takes care of the best friend during vacation.
But it does not have to be that way! Sustainable travel with a dog is possible, as two green pearls in Austria and Germany show! Here, dogs are not only allowed, but actually welcome!
Vacation with 4 Paws in East Tyrol
Travelers, who arrive at Gradonna Mountain Resort in Kals am Großglockner with their favorite four-legged friend immediately realize that it is not only a paradise for themselves, but also for their dog. The resort is car-free – that is not only great in general, but especially for dogs, which can then enjoy happy runs around.
In the room, a small surprise awaits the furry creature: a dog travel box with a few treats, a bowl and a soft dog blanket so that the dog has it comfy in the room, as well.
In an informational brochure, dog owners find a list of recommendations for taking the dog for a walk and even hiking trails that are dog-friendly. With a „peak ticket“, dog parents can use the mountain railways and thus take on elevated hikes with their four-legged company – completely without panting.

Especially the house at the forest is suitable for sustainable travel with a dog. The house not only has a small dog house, but also is located right by the forest. From here, dog owners can immediately enjoy a walk with the dog in untouched nature. Afterwards, the furry friend can catch its breath and freshen up for the evening in the „dog wash“ in front of the house. Dog towels, a dog bag and a bowl are of course also in the house!
When the dog owners head to the main house for dinner, the animal companion can come along – because dogs are also welcomed here! There, dogs can lay comfortably in the corner or spend time with the house cats that are used to dog company.
