Sustainable Travel Tips for 2017 (Part 2)

In the previous blog article, we have introduced sustainable travel tips for the first half of 2017. Today, we continue with great advices for the summer months july til september.

July: Black Forest selfness in Germany

In the summer month July,  the nature of the Black Forest shows its most beautiful side. The unique diversity of the surrounding nature reflects in the water falls, gorges, lakes, forests and meadows of the region. Get your hiking boots or bicycle ready – the best way to discover the mountains, wells, caves, nature and national parks. Unforgettable summer nights can be experienced at the popular summer night theater at Bad Herrenalb. In July, the young and older ones can look forward to the play “Puss in Boots”. The summer nights ware best spend at hotel SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA. With Yoga courses, fasting cures or TCM therapies, the wellness and health hotel with its own “selfness” center supports the guests’ health and responsible self care. Think global – act local, is the motto at SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA. Thus, a regional focus and the prevention of CO2 emissions is at focus. The restaurant “La Vie” surprises with modern interpretations of traditional Black Forest cuisine with fresh, regional ingredients.

August: SANDy beach adventures

For many, summer involves sun, beach and the sea. Thus, the Baltic Sea beaches in Northern Germany are a popular travel destination. Especially acclaimed: Timmendorfer Strand, which delights with a white sandy beach, a relaxed nordic atmosphere, and always something going on. Explore the underwater world of the Baltic Sea when trial diving, let yourself be taken to other worlds at the beach cinema, and see and be seen at the harbor day celebrations of Niendorf. Also do not miss out on getting active during a bike tour into the surrounding nature, a walk along the beach or a beach-volleyball match. Another highlight: At the end of August, the German Beach Volleyball Championship takes place at Timmendorf.

Who enjoys modern lifestyle, combined with a focus on naturalness and sustainability, checks in at SAND. The Lifestylehotel supports regional consumption, the protection of the environment, as well as respect for the local culture. Recycled natural materials and regional elements are part of the SAND experience. Renewable energies such as solar power for warm water have been implemented to complete the sustainable experience. The natural regional approach is also reflected culinarily: at SAND, the focus is on regional cuisine, as well as international meals, interpreted with regional, saisonal and biological ingredients.

September: Wine meets Nature at Lake Constance

September marks the beginning of the vintages. Thus, our tip for the late summer month is one of the most beautiful wine areas of Germany – Hagnau at Lake Constance. Soft hills, romantic orchards, vineyards as far as the eye can see, and Lake Constance right on your door step: what sounds like a dream actually describes the surroundings of Burgunderhof. The luxurious oasis of tranquility is the first bio certified hotel and vineyard at Lake Constance. For the winemaking as well as when it comes to the morning breakfast buffet, attention is paid to strictly controlled organic cultivation. With the help of CO2 reducing measurements and the use of renewable energies such as water and solar power, Burgunderhof has managed to become climateneutral. The hotel offers a beautiful panoramic view, that will make you long to go outside and take bike tours through the vineyards or go swimming, diving, sailing at Lake Constance nearby. In the evening, you can make yourself comfortable at the nicely arranged garden with a delicious glas of wine of the house label, and enjoy the silence and the view over the surrounding nature.
