Family Holiday instead of Playstation Gambling
Every year, parents worldwide spend between 600 and 800 Euros per child on toys. Thus, children spend an increasing amount of hours per day in the virtual world on their smartphone, iPad, Wii or Playstation…and experience less unique moments!
Can’t money be invested in a better way? We think so, for example in a family holiday, because according to multiple studies, traveling makes children not only happier than a Playstation but also smarter, as new impressions give inspiration. Whether you decide for a vacation on a farm or at the beach or even a weekend trip – any joint experiences make children stronger, and do not necessarily need to be more expensive than high end toys. Green Pearls® Unique Places offers tips for nice trips with children.
Take your Bambini to Liguria
In the charming Italian village Borgomaro, Elena Scalambrin opened the Relais del Maro in 2012 in order to conserve her family’s historical building. According to Italian tradition, you will become a part of the family during the duration of the visit in the authentic hotel. While the bambini enjoy themselves in the swimming-pool with jacuzzi, the parents can take it easy in the romantic garden. Afterwards, you can enjoy delicious Italian food together on the terrace with a gorgeous view over the surrounding mountains. The children will like to hear that the beaches are only a short distance away. A real highlight? Sometimes dolphins and up to 24-metres-long whales, of course protected species, romp at the Ligurian Coast during summer time. Really nice is the beach of Port Maurizio and the scenery of the ancient district is very imposing. An excursion to the Grotte di Toirano (about 1 hour away) is also worthwhile, because here the skeletal leftovers of the so-called cave bear were found and the limestone caves wait to be discovered.
City, country, river with kids at the Black Forest
Also Freiburg, located in the lovely Black Forest, is perfect to be explored with children. While small wannabe skippers enter the Waldsee on rowing and pedal boats, water lovers will have a good time swimming in the beautifully river “Dreisam”. The four hectare large corn maze located at the village of Opfingen makes children’s hearts beat faster. After a refreshment at the maze cabin, some children find the way out of the maze faster than adults. At the large bio garden located in the Seepark of Freiburg, one can bear staying as well as in the Black Forest nature reserve, where juveniles can enjoy geotagging. On a rainy day, the automobile museum Volants delights with spectacular vintage cars. To explore Freiburg and surroundings, you can stay in the integrative Green City Hotel Vauban. Led by a nonprofit company, ten employees with special needs work together with ten additional colleagues. Tolerance, acceptance and social responsibly is part of the daily life here.
Family happiness at fresh mountain air
Alpine bliss arises in the Berchtesgaden area with a dreamy mountain scenery. Four mountain ranges meet here: the Reiteralp, the Lattengebirge, the Hochkalter and the famous Watzmann. Whether skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing or playing on the picturesque meadows – here every family member gets its money’s worth. And even hiking can be anything but boring: Mountain and hiking guides show the impressive alpine panorama und love to share their knowledge about local plants and wildlife.
In this beautiful holiday landscape of the Berchtesgadener Alps lies the Berghotel Rehlegg, where you can meet the hotel’s Lehen bio pigs, a cross between the Peitran pig and the heavy swine of Schwäbisch Hall. The animals live on their own pastures under the blue sky during summer. While the young ones have fun on the mountain pastures or take a refreshing bath at the pool, relaxation lovers can take a timeout at the spa and get spoilt with local herbs.
Paradise for Big and Small
For those who like to travel a bit further, Green Pearls® recommends some paradisiacal island feeling. Curaçao offers more than poster wallpaper images and the famous cocktails. Kids love the combination of extensive beaches and the warm sea. And everyone loves to catch fish on their own, admire tropical birds and rare animal species. Besides, in regards to nature, Curaçao has more to offer than one might think. Wild landscape, exotic beaches, hidden bays and a fantastic mountain area in the west of the island. A safari tour or an eco tour is an unforgettable experience for all members of the family. An especially family-friendly hotel is the Morena Eco Resort. From your cozy apartments it takes only five minutes by foot to get to the white Jan Thiel sand beach, which is known for its Caribbean palms and the typical azure water.
