Luxury and relaxation in the mountains – without leaving sustainability behind

Are you truly relaxed when fresh mountain air is breezing through your hair? Our new hideaway series takes a look on luxurious accommodations offering the best to their guest without taking into account the luxury of nature itself. We do not start with the postcard motif of a beach but with the special setting of the mountains…..

In the middle of outside

Right in the middle of the National Park Hohen Tauern in East Tyrol you can find the Hotel Outside that describes itself as a “place in the middle of nowhere” – a place where you can feel close to nature again and recover yourself. Not only do the Alps provide you with a stunning panorama view (which by the way you’ll never get tired of), but also invite to amazing walks. I tried geo tagging with my friends and got a very different perspective of nature. The Nature SPA offers relaxation and wellness. Try out the different treatments that use alpine herbs and mountain hay, the Zirbenstuben sauna, glacier scrubs and more. One specialty of the hotel Outside is detox fasting with alkaline foods which can be done for three days as well as for a whole week.

Learning to value indigenous nature

Sustainability, tradition and hospitality are the core values of the family-run mountain Hotel Rehlegg that is located in the National Park Berchtesgaden. It provides you with an impressive view on Watzmann, Göll and Brett as well as the Hochkalter. As the hotel is the perfect starting point for different hikes, you should never forget your hiking shoes: trails with different levels of difficulty and a total length of 300 kilometers are waiting to be discovered! In 1998 the mountain hotel Rehlegg was awarded as a “national park friendly hotel”. For family Lichtmannegger one more reason to keep going: today 100 per cent of the energy used is CO2 neutral. The furniture is made of regional material and build by local carpenters and even the wellness treatments reflect the appreciation of indigenous nature: different local herbs are used for massages, treatments and scrubs – do grow just behind the hotel. For this purpose the hotel has a herbal specialist that also offers guided hikes.

One Glacier and three three-thousanders

Get addicted to the breathtaking scenery in the Schnalstal in the Italian part of South Tyrol. Additionally the valley entices with the 185 hectare glacier Hochjochferner and the surrounding three thousand meter high mountains Weißkugel, Wildspitze and Similaun. Down in the valley lays the Josephus, which combines luxurious alpine lodges with handy apartments. The traditional building was already built in 1912 and great parts of the old textures and materials were kept, reused and combined with modern design. Therefore each of the apartments has developed its very own character and spreads the charm of South Tyrol – and after an active day in the mountains you can enjoy a calm and relaxing evening in front of the crackling open fire.

The aim of the broad variety of offerings: conscious deceleration and perception of the inner self.
