The route becomes the destination
Everyone who has traveled at least once knows: traveling makes us happy. Green Pearls® shows you ways of how your vacation is relaxing and sustainable. As hiking is on top of the list when it comes to sustainability, we present you three hiking tours in Italy, Switzerland and Hungary.
1. Dream trail („Traumpfad“) Munich – Venice (Germany/Italy)
This trail passes the most beautiful spots of the eastern Alps. The first hiking part leads you through the luscious, green meadows and river valleys of the alpine upland. With the Benedikterwand you reach the first alpine summit with a great panoramic view over the Karwendel mountains. Afterwards up to 3000 Meter high summits, such as the Birkkarspitze or the Friesebergscharte, are waiting for you. At the end of the hike you pass the impressive rock face Civetta. The dream trail is a rather strenuous hike because you conquer a lot of altitude every day. That means: full concentration and perseverance but also overcoming your limits and sensing pure nature. And after the long hike (approximately 550 km) you have really earned to relax at the Adriatic and dip your feet into the sea. Green Pearls® hotels on your way are the Leitlhof and the Josephus.
2. Jakobsweg/Schwabenweg (Germany/Switzerland)
The Jakobsweg is one of the most popular pilgrim paths in the world, that ends at the grave of apostle Jakobus in the Spanish city Santiago de Compostela. For those who just want to hike a part, the Schwabenweg (654 km) between Constance in Germany and Einsiedeln in Switzerland is a good choice. At the very beginning you pass the gorgeous flower island Mainau, where a paradise of seasonal flower gardens, a butterfly house and a petting zoo can be admired, which was first set up in 1827. In an alpine valley lies the Benedictine monastery St. Johann: The UNESCO world culture heritage is built in Carolingian style and is the perfect place for a calming and relaxing break. From here on it goes steeply uphill through the hollow alleys („Hohle Gassen“) to the Luegeten where you are rewarded with a breathtaking view over the lake Zurich and the Obersee. When arriving in Einsiedeln you cross the Etzelstreet, that was built in the 10th century, and finish your long hike on the Etzelpass. The Green Pearls® hotels Schloss Wartegg as well as the Burgunderhof are the best addresses to recover.
3. From Bódvaszilas to Boldogkőváralja (Cserehát/Hungary)
The nature reserve Cserehát is surrounded by three rivers, which you discover during this comparatively short hike of approximately 70 km. The first intermediate destination is the cavern Esztramos, a typical and mystical Hungarian limestone cave. The special cave structure developed after the ice age when water paved its way through the limestone. Having climbed up the 339 m high Kecske-pad you made it to the highest mountain of the Cserehát! Hence from now on it will be a little bit easier: until the end of the trail you wander through meadows and forests and pass cute little villages like Felsovadasz or Fancsal. On your way you might well meet some roes and deers, even more impressive though is the great variety of bird species: From bee-eater over oriole to the endangered Zippammer the most diverse birds can be observed. The hike passes the Green Pearls® hotel Irota Eco Lodge where guests can borrow mountain bikes for free.
