Green Travel Calendar for 2018 – part 2
Are you still thinking about where to travel this year? Here is our travel calendar for the time from June to September: with tips on green travel destinations that are good for the environment and support local people and culture. By the way: here are part 1 and part 3.
June: Enjoying the sun in Freiburg
Did you know that Freiburg is the German city that has the most hours of sunshine per year? Here, you can explore the green district Vauban with its rooftop gardens, car free zones and passive houses – and stay at the Green City Hotel Vauban. With the climbing plants at its façade – the green façade being a part of the hotel’s cutting-edge energy concept – it fits perfectly into this district. The Green City Hotel is not only committed to climate protection but it also assumes social responsibility: whenever possible, food and beverages are regional or originate from integrational businesses. In this way the Green City Hotel Vauban supports like-minded enterprises, since it employs people with and without handicap as well. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere is the reward for this concept.
July: recreation in the Black Forest
Do you like wellness? Then you should try selfness. This concept goes well beyond the usual definition of wellness: it means being attentive to yourself and developing a more conscious lifestyle. At Schwarzwald Panorama, selfness plays an important role. Here, you are guided by experienced experts who combine beauty- and wellness programs with alternative medicine and a holistic philosophy, for example yoga or TCM. And a hiking tour in the Albtal with its crystal clear mountain lakes and gentle hills completes the recreation program!
August: a wedding in the tropics
Do you dream of a romantic vacation on a lonely island? In this case, Cerf Island Resort is the perfect place for you. There are no streets on Cerf Island in the Seychelles and you will meet only a few local people and the residents of the Resort’s 24 villas. Due to its size of less than one square mile you can easily explore it on foot and have wonderful walks in the tropical landscape with its lush greenery and lonely white beaches. Cerf Island Resort’s concept is perfect for wedding couples as well as those newly in love and its restaurant is the ideal place for a romantic dinner with local cuisine and a view at the sunset.
September: exploring the wild beauty of Tenerife
Tenerife is known for its mild and sunny weather throughout the whole year. In autumn it is particularly nice: temperatures around 20 °C provide ideal conditions for exploring the spectacular nature, for example during hiking tours taking you along the coast. You will certainly remember the breathtaking views of the cliffs and the sea for a long time to come. The perfect starting point is the Océano Hotel Health Spa, located in the quiet North of the island. At the Océano, sustainability and a holistic health concept play an important role: detoxification and Thalasso Therapy in the Spa area as well as a seawater pool and biological mattresses make sure that you can deeply relax in magnificent surroundings.
