Bad Herrenalb

Germany’s first Quality Trail „family-fun“ located in the upper Gaistal in Bad Herrenalb leads over hill and dale directly through the habitat of the wildcats. An excursion for the whole family hiking cross country over meadows and woods, crossing creeks and rivers.

At ten information points you stop by to learn more about the animals, their hunting behavior, their natural enemies, what prey they hunt and what differs them from a house-cat. Guided tours give more detailed information.

Wildcats Certificate for the little ones

Sustainability implies to educate kids at an early stage, therefore kids are invited to file for their personal wildcat’s certificate. Ten questions must be answered, and who paid attention well at the different stations, can easily find out the right solution word.

Background information Wildcat Trail

The Wildcat-Forest Experience is an initiative of BUND-Landesverband Baden-Württemberg e.V., promoted by the Nature Reserve Black Forest Middle/North and the municipality Bad Herrenalb as well as the Härtwig-Stiftung. The path originated in cooperation with the town Bad Herrenalb, the Landesbetrieb ForstBW and the municipality Loffenau, part of the BUND – campaign “Biotopvernetzung – Netze des Lebens“ which is financed with EU fundings from the finance program LIFE.

The certification process encloses all three aspects of sustainability, economical, social and ecological, the aim is to be awarded the official seal “Sustainable destination”.

The touristic Bad Herrenalb (in house operation of Bad Herrenalb) as a destination management organization has submitted successfully to this certification: Since February, 2016 Bad Herrenalb is certified as „sustainable destination“.

Other energetic measures are new windows for better heat insulation, implementation of low-energy lights and light bulb, optimization of heating and ventilation technology.

Result: Reduction of the energy consumption for the protection of the environment. Bad Herrenalb continuously works on its energy balance. From 2014 to 2016 the whole street lighting was switched to power-saving LED lamps. The annual energy balance as well as an energy report serves including the Co2 imprint serves a proof.

The region North Black Forest offers interesting E mobile packages to you: By E-Car through the northern Black Forest and in addition still receive benefits. Book 2 days of holiday fun and driving pleasure in one.

Also for the driving experience with a high performance electric vehicle of the brand Tesla, the Black Forest offers a special experience. Under the motto “from 0 on Black Forest in 3 seconds” one-day or three-day-long guided tours can be book with up to 30 participants.

E- Car-sharing

Electric mobility in the northern Black Forest is also experienceable for citizens. Electric mobility in the everyday life is offered by the municipality Oerreichenbach. There is an E-Citizen Car. This model serves as a role model for other local authority districts in the rural area. In the near future the north Black Forest should be the region of electric-mobile citizens.

E-Coach

Also the ÖPNV switches to E-Coaches. In Baiersbronn an electric mobile local coach was put into operation in 2015. In the meantime, several lines are operating here.

E-Filling Station Infrastructure

A filling station infrastructure is evident for electro-mobility. Internationally more and more E-stations are put in operation due to the rising acceptance. Also in the Black Forest you will find many of these filling stations. The ENCW –energy Calw –is engaged here and works on a steady removal of the net. At the same time E-mobility is tested for everyday suitability.
